When I first got pregnant, I thought preparing for the hospital and postpartum life would be simple. I assumed I could just pack a cute hospital bag, bring a few baby outfits, and everything would naturally fall into place. But pregnancy and motherhood quickly taught me that nothing truly prepares you for how much your body, mind, and emotions go through during this season of life.
That’s exactly why I created these PDF checklists — to help other mamas feel a little more prepared, a little less overwhelmed, and a lot more supported.
Hospital Bag Checklist
Packing my hospital bag was something I kept putting off because I honestly didn’t know where to start. Do you pack for labor? Recovery? Baby? Your partner? Turns out… all of the above.
In my Hospital Checklist PDF, I included the essentials that actually mattered during labor, delivery, and recovery. From comfortable pajamas and nursing bras to toiletries, chargers, baby outfits, and important documents — this checklist is designed to help you feel prepared without overpacking. Because the truth is, when labor starts, the last thing you want is to be running around trying to remember where your phone charger or baby blanket is. Packing for the hospital can honestly feel stressful, especially when you’re already dealing with the physical and emotional exhaustion that comes with late pregnancy. There’s so much to think about, and it can feel overwhelming trying to figure out what you’ll need. One thing I learned is that it’s always better to prepare ahead of time rather than waiting until the last minute. Every pregnancy is different, and some moms go into labor unexpectedly. Some babies arrive early, some labor experiences move quickly, and sometimes you simply don’t have the energy to pack once those contractions start. Having your hospital bag ready ahead of time can give you one less thing to stress about during those final weeks of pregnancy. Even if you never touch the bag until your due date, the peace of mind alone is worth it. I also realized that packing isn’t just about the baby — it’s about making yourself as comfortable as possible during one of the biggest moments of your life. After delivery, your body is recovering while you’re learning how to care for a newborn at the same time. Small comforts like your own pajamas, slippers, toiletries, favorite snacks, or a long phone charger can make a huge difference while you’re in the hospital. And while it’s impossible to prepare for every part of labor and postpartum recovery, having the basics packed and organized can help you feel a little more in control during such an emotional and unpredictable time. That’s why I created this Hospital Checklist PDF — to help other moms feel more prepared, less overwhelmed, and confident walking into delivery day. Whether you’re a first-time mom or adding another little one to your family, I hope this checklist helps make those final weeks of pregnancy just a little easier.
Pregnancy Essentials
Pregnancy is beautiful, but it can also be exhausting, uncomfortable, emotional, and completely unpredictable. There were so many products I never thought I would need until I became pregnant myself. In my Pregnancy Essentials PDF, I share items that genuinely helped me throughout my pregnancy journey — especially during the hard days. Whether it was dealing with nausea, fatigue, body aches, sleepless nights, or simply trying to stay comfortable while working a 9–5, these are products that made a real difference for me. Just essentials that helped me survive and feel a little more like myself during pregnancy. During my first trimester, I was nauseous almost constantly. Morning sickness quickly became an all-day sickness for me, and there were days when even simple tasks felt impossible. One thing that personally helped me was Vitamin B6, but every pregnancy is different, and it’s always important to consult with your healthcare provider before trying supplements or remedies during pregnancy. Another thing nobody warned me about was pregnancy rhinitis. I honestly didn’t even know it was a thing until I experienced it myself. The constant congestion and stuffiness made it hard to sleep, breathe comfortably, and even get through the workday sometimes. A simple saline spray ended up helping me so much, and it became one of those random pregnancy essentials I never expected to need. That’s the thing about pregnancy — there are so many symptoms and changes people don’t always talk about enough. The exhaustion, headaches, swelling, overheating, back pain, insomnia, food aversions, and emotional ups and downs can really catch you off guard. One of the most unexpected lifesavers for me was a portable fan. Pregnancy hot flashes are no joke, and I constantly found myself overheating at random times. That little fan came everywhere with me, and it especially helped during labor when I felt overheated and uncomfortable. There were so many little things that made pregnancy easier for me, which is exactly why I created this list. These aren’t trendy items just because social media says you need them — they’re products I personally found useful during real moments of pregnancy. Every pregnancy journey is different, and what works for one mom may not work for another. But if you’re currently navigating nausea, discomfort, exhaustion, or simply trying to feel a little more prepared, I hope these essentials help make your pregnancy journey a little easier and more comfortable.
Postpartum Essentials
Postpartum recovery is something I truly wish more people talked about honestly. Everyone prepares you for pregnancy, labor, and bringing home the baby — but not enough people prepare you for what happens to your body and mind afterward. Those first few weeks or even months of postpartum can feel emotional, exhausting, overwhelming, and honestly a little isolating at times. Your body is trying to heal while you’re also learning how to care for a newborn, survive on little sleep, and adjust to a completely new version of life. One thing I learned very quickly is that every woman experiences postpartum differently. Some moms recover faster physically, while others struggle more emotionally or mentally. Some breastfeed easily, while others experience pain, stress, or feeding challenges right away. There’s no “right” postpartum experience, and I think more moms need to hear that. My labor experience was not what I expected at all. I was in labor for three days before eventually needing a C-section, so recovery felt especially difficult physically and emotionally. I remember being sore, exhausted, swollen, emotional, and trying to process everything while also caring for my newborn. There are so many parts of postpartum that nobody really warns you about beforehand. The Lochia after birth can last for weeks. Your breasts can become painfully swollen and engorged while your milk comes in. Breastfeeding itself can be incredibly emotional and physically painful in the beginning — from cracked nipples and soreness to clogged ducts and trying to figure out if your baby is even getting enough milk. And for moms who choose formula feeding or need to transition away from breastfeeding, that process can come with its own emotions and discomfort too. Then there are the physical recovery symptoms people don’t always talk about. Some women experience hemorrhoids after labor from all the pushing, making even sitting or walking uncomfortable. Your hormones fluctuate constantly, which can leave you crying one moment and overwhelmed the next. I also think many moms feel pressure to “bounce back” quickly, when in reality postpartum recovery takes time. Your body just carried and delivered a baby — healing physically and emotionally doesn’t happen overnight. The emotional side of postpartum can honestly be one of the hardest parts. Between sleep deprivation, hormone changes, physical recovery, and the responsibility of caring for a newborn, it’s easy to feel overstimulated and overwhelmed. Some moms experience baby blues, postpartum anxiety, or postpartum depression, and I think it’s important to talk about those experiences openly instead of pretending postpartum is always magical. Over time, I found small things that helped me feel a little more comfortable and supported during recovery. One item that personally helped me a lot was the Frida Mom Postpartum Recovery Essentials Kit, especially after my C-section. The disposable underwear felt supportive around my incision while still being comfortable enough to wear with pads during postpartum bleeding. That’s part of why I created my Postpartum Essentials PDF — not because I think moms need to buy everything, but because there were so many things I didn’t even know I would need until I was already recovering. I wanted to share the items, comforts, and little things that genuinely helped me during those early postpartum weeks. More than anything, I want moms to know that postpartum recovery is hard, and it’s okay if it doesn’t feel perfect. Healing takes time. Adjusting takes time. And no matter what your postpartum journey looks like, you deserve support, care, and grace during this stage too.
